US-based Nigerian tells Africans in America why they shouldn’t send money to relations back home 1

A US-based Nigerian man, Sunjohn Nwose, has shared his perspective on the practice of sending money back home to Africa.

He believes that often, the recipients of these financial transfers are not actually struggling but are merely seeking some extra cash.

Nwose advised his fellow Africans residing in America to stop sending their hard-earned money home while they are still struggling.

According to him, if things go wrong for them, it is the same people they are helping that will mock them first.

“Stop sending people money in Africa. These guys are not struggling; they just need extra cash. You are the one making your life a living hell in America. You are the one making your life stressful in America. You are the one making your life depressive because you are here worrying about an adult who is not physically challenged. You are worrying killing yourself on how to pay their house rents. Why would you be giving an adult money to somebody who is not physically challenged? You are working to pay their bills. Why would you be paying somebody’s house rent in Africa while you are squatting in America? Like placing an adult on salary while you are struggling here with your two jobs.

“You are the one making your life a living hell. Stop it; you get the point. This guys will still be the one to mocksl you tomorrow if you fail. They will say you spent all your life in America and didn’t achieve anything, forgetting that they are the reason why you didn’t achieve anything in America. Put yourself first; if you succeed, you can help people. But why are you struggling? Stop making your life a living hell. Stop trying to be a good person; people in this life don’t have memories; they quickly forget. They will only remember you when they get something from you. The only person you are owing is your parents; you don’t owe any other adults anything,” he said.

A person doesn’t need to be physically challenged to need help. The only prominent thing to do is set boundaries while helping. At the end of the day after working all those money it might not safe you but the community you saved.”
