‘Apologize same way you embarrassed her’: Bloggers reject Dunamis’ apology to lady Paul Enenche called liar 1

Popular Pentecostal pastor, Paul Enenche and his church, Dunamis International gospel Center have responded to the recent controversy surrounding a church member’s testimony during a service.

A lady, Anyim Veronica Nnena had claimed to be a law graduate, but Pastor Enenche called her a liar and dismissed her testimony as fake.

In a public statement shared on social media, Pastor Enenche clarified that his intention was not to publicly embarrass Ms. Veronica.

The Church explained that their Senior Pastor’s reaction was fueled by his zero tolerance for mediocrity and lies, which he believed to be the case at the time.

The statement further elaborated on the reasons behind Pastor Enenche’s skepticism towards Ms. Veronica’s testimony. It mentioned her spoken English and the fact that she referred to her degree as a BSc instead of an LLB, among other factors.

Meanwhile, some Facebook users (bloggers) have picked holes in the apology, demanding that it should be done properly. They insisted that it should be verbally delivered by Pastor Enenche himself not through an aide.

Netizens react:

@flora_omokaro: “A public apology is gonna be better, she shouldn’t be shamed publicly and apologized to privately.”

@Vickdaramola: “Another observation I have concerning this matter is, everyone should try and work on their self-esteem and confidence. The woman might actually be dealing with stage fright or something…she was not saying the correct thing, however, it is proven that she is truly a law graduate in NIGERIA. Nigeria my country.”

@Heis_moses: “Pastor Paul should apologise to her publicly just the same way he embarrassed her .”

@Only1maroro: “Too many of you saying the pastor should publicly go tell her sorry. I think this is enough to clear the impression the public had. If you are in the position of the pastor, you’ll do the same unless you are one who doesn’t care about competence and brilliance. Where on earth will a law graduate speak like that?”

@Prince_oshiobugie: “There was no ” we are very sorry or i am very sorry” in everything that was written. Why is it too hard to say I AM SORRY .”

@I__ramson: “I don’t accept the apology , apologize to her the way u embarrassed her amen.”

@st_xxl007: “Nice one Pastor but also Release a Video apologizing to her Publicly Exactly how you Embarrassed her Publicly Sir.”

@princess_funkkie_fabrics: “I doubt it if the lady will attend the church anymore. She was totally humiliated.”

Olive Sprinklez: “It should be done vocally not only written… This is now a disguised pride…. Apology is to call the woman in a Sunday worship and address the issue in a more humane and saintly manner… And by way of Brotherly love and Christly mindset… A financial largess should be granted as a way of encouraging her in the struggle of pushing for education at her level”

Abraham Courage: “There’s a sentence there that state “The senior pastor felt concerned and reach out to her”,
Social Media people want the Man of God to apologize to them when they have no business with the matter.
This shows where we are.”

Pastor Steve Omodecx: “That was way below the belt. As a father you don’t treat your children as such. Even if it was wrong, there were better ways to go about it . I personally feel the apology in the said letter is more of a defense to the image of the ministry than to the person who was defamed and humiliated. To err is human and may she find comfort and closure to the same.”
