Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, popularly known as Zlatan Ibile, is a Nigerian singer and rapper.

He is the Chief Executive Officer of Zanku Records. He won the Airtel-sponsored One Mic talent competition in 2014, which took place in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Zlatan Ibile Biography

Zlatan Ibile was born on December 19, 1994, and raised in Ilorin, Kwara State. He also has ties o Ijurin, Ekiti State.  He earned a national diploma in Business Administration from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in 2011.

Career

After finishing high school, Zlatan decided to pursue a career in music. He won the Airtel-sponsored One Mic Campus Tour music competition, which took place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, in 2014, when he was 19.

He became famous after releasing My Body featuring Olamide in 2017.

When he heard the song Zlatan and Olamide performed, Lawrence Irabor, one of the co-owners of Alleluyah Boiz Entertainment, decided to sign Zlatan to their record label A.B.E. record.

Zlatan Ibile became more popular after collaborating with Chinko Ekun and Lil Kesh on Able God in 2018.

Soon after, he released Zanku, a song with a dance routine of the same name.

He released Osanle, featuring Davido around the end of the year. Before appearing on Burna Boy‘s Killin Dem, a song from the latter’s fourth studio album African Giant, he released Glory in the early months of 2019. Shortly after, he appeared on Ceeza Milli’s Flenjo and Naira Marley‘s Am I a Yahoo Boy.

Zlatan announced on July 26, 2019, that he had signed an endorsement agreement with Coca-Cola.

Zlatan announced the opening of his record label, Zanku Records, on his Instagram page on January 1st, 2020, without revealing any artists.

He listed Papisnoop, Oberz, and Jamopyper, as well as the official signing of Visionary Pictures as videographer/cinematographer,  Jiggy as his manager, Rexxie as his music producer, and Bieloaded as his public relations advisor. He posted a picture of himself and seven other people on his Instagram page to announce this.

Controversies

Zlatan Ibile/Dj Cuppy

Zlatan and a few others were detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in May 2019 in connection with an alleged case of money laundering and online fraud. He was granted administrative bail and released a few days later. The musicians were detained along with Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses, and Abubakar Musa. They were arrested following a search at 9 Gbangbola Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos. The commission claimed that it discovered and recovered various things, including laptops, from the suspects at the point of arrest.

The friendship between Omoniyi Raphael, aka Zlatan Ibile, and DJ Cuppy created headlines. Since she claimed that Zlatan had blocked her on social media, the 29-year-old DJ has been the centre of attention. Many people assumed it was just another celebrity stunt to create enmity, but Zlatan’s reaction made many people’s tongues wag.

When Zlatan was asked about his rift with Cuppy, he said he did not know her. According to Afeare Israel, Davido’s personal logistical manager, Zlatan’s conduct was motivated by the disc jockey’s failure to duly thank him for his contributions to the success of Gelato at her charity event.
