Mention the name Zari Hassan and the conversation immediately focuses on the original “Boss Lady” (not the counterfeit in Nigeria that describes herself as such). The socialite may be miles away from her country, but she is excelling in her country of residence, making great strides in business,

But there is one other thing that Zari Hassan is known for: her fondness for young guys. So, why is she attracted to young men and how is her love life presently?

Zarinah Hassan, also known as Zari Hassan, was born on September 23, 1980, into the family of Nasur Hassan and Halima Hassan. She is of mixed race: her maternal grandfather is of Indian descent, her maternal grandmother is Ugandan, and her paternal grandmother is Burundian. 

She lost her mother, Halima Hassan, who died of heart complications in July 2017. The Ugandan socialite has siblings: Zuleha Hassan, Asha Hassan, Zara Hassan, and Abdul Karim Hassan

Zari the Boss Lady, as she likes to be called, completed her secondary school education at Jinja Girls High School. While in school, she was a member of music, drama and dance groups. Her talent earned her the award for best actress for two years in a row. After graduating from high school, she relocated to Kampala, the capital of Uganda, where she performed Karaoke at various bars.

She moved to the United Kingdom for further studies and obtained a diploma in cosmetology. She later returned to Uganda to establish her business empire, while pursuing her musical career.

Hassan is currently resident in South Africa, where she operates and supervises her business interests from.

Career

Zari Hassan found out that she is a talented singer when she was a child. She began to play the piano and participated in numerous contests held at her school. She got the chance to sing at her school’s end-of-year event.

Her first single, Oliwange, which means “You’re Mine”, was released in 2007. The song received a nomination for Best East African Video of the Year at the Africa Channel O Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

Asides from music, Hassan runs an educational institution, Brooklyn City College (BCC), a South African based diverse, progressive educational institute, which she co-founded with her late husband. She also manages a cosmetics store.

Zari Hassan was married to the late Ivan Semwanga, a deceased South African socialite. The couple got married in 2001 but divorced in 2013 after having three boys together. Hassan accused Semwanga of physically abusing her

Semwanga passed away in May 2017 from a heart attack. 

Relationships

Following her divorce, Zari Hassan became notable for frolicking with men younger than her.

First of all, she started dating Farouk Sempala, a basketball player from Uganda. Sempala, however, accused Hassan of aborting his children, and the relationship ended abruptly.

She then became intimate with Diamond Platnumz, a famous musician from Tanzania. The duo birthed two children: Prince Nillan and Latifah Dangote. However, the relationship crashed in 2018.

Diamond Platnumz admitted in an interview that the relationship crashed due to distance and communication issues and cheating, noting that he allowed “the devil took control and I became stupid, as a human I wasn’t able to prevent it”.

 She was also romantically linked to King Bae and GK Choppa.

Her current boyfriend is Shakib Cham Lutaaya, her compatriot, who is 11 years younger than her.
