Super Falcons held the Republic of Ireland to a goalless draw to go to the Women’s World Cup quarterfinals.
Despite being eliminated after losing their first two games, Ireland dominated possession and nearly lead within the first five minutes, but Katie McCabe drove a low shot just wide.
The Super Falcons came out stronger after the break, and Kanu appeared to have broken the game with a downward header, only for Courtney Brosnan to magnificently tip onto the crossbar.

When the Irish had their finest chance of the second half, Denise O’Sullivan saw a close-range shot blocked.
With Australia defeating Canada 4-0 in Group B’s other match, Nigeria finishes second and will face the Group D victor – who may be England – in the last 16.
