David Adeleke, better known as Davido, a top Nigerian musician and music executive, has disclosed that he wasn’t paid for his performance at the reception banquet for Abia Governor, Alex Otti.
He revealed this while responding to curious Twitter followers on Monday.
“Many don’t know but Davido is Dr. Alex Otti’s godson and he’s in Umuahia at the inauguration after-party where he’s giving a full performance. It’s a full-blown show in Umuahia,” a tweep reported.
Another user asked if Davido had requested for payment, saying “Na free performance??”
In response, Davido said that he received “not a dime” and that he has known Otti his entire life.
The DMW chief also expressed faith in the governor’s abilities as the governor of Abia state.
“Not a dime I’ve known Excellency all my life … and I’m sure he will do well for the people of Abia state,” Davido wrote.
Otti was sworn in as the Governor of Abia State on May 29 at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
At lunchtime, he took his oath of office and was sworn in by Abia Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Lilian Abai.
At the Inauguration dinner, Davido entertained guests with some of his hit songs.
