A United Kingdom boarding school, Cottesmore, made history after being the first school to appoint an AI robot as its principal headteacher.

The AI robot named Abigail Bailey works similarly to the popular AI-based chatbot ChatGPT, where users type questions and the AI answers using its algorithm.

Abigail Bailey was employed to assist the school’s headmaster, Tom Rogerson.

In an interview with Telegraph, Rogerson explained that Abigail would give him advice and insights on a variety of subjects, including how to support fellow teachers and staff members, writing school policies, and helping pupils with learning difficulties such as ADHD.

He added that the AI was created with a lot of machine learning and educational management skills, and she is adept at analysing enormous amounts of data.

Rogerson claims that the Abigail won’t replace human teachers but will help reduce their workload.

“Having the robot around doesn’t mean you don’t ever seek counsel from humans.

“Sometimes having someone or something there to help you is a very calming influence.

“It’s nice to think that someone who is unbelievably well trained is there to help you make decisions,” he added.
