Real Madrid sent Liverpool packing from the Champions League with a 1-0 victory at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

The victory means Liverpool were unable to create an upset to come back from a 5-2 drubbing at Anfield last week. Tonight’s score takes the aggregate to 6-2 and qualifies them for the quarter-final.

The Reds had goalkeeper Alisson Becker to thank as his heroics in Madrid saved Jurgen Klopp’s men from what would have an annihilation.

Liverpool, thought to be out for fierce revenge, were second best on the night and fell to Karim Benzema’s 78th-minute tap-in from Vinicius Jnr’s pass.

The Reds, who were finalists last season, would now be more concerned about qualifying for the competition next season as they battle inconsistency in the Premier League.

Napoli vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Elsewhere at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Napoli were handing Frankfurt a sound beating.

The game ended 3-0 on the night and 5-0 on aggregate.

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen was at the forefront of the crushing, scoring two goals on the night to become the first Nigerian to score twice in a Champions League knockout game.

The reliable striker scored in the second minute of added time in the first half before netting his second in the 53rd minute.

Piotr Zielinski scored the third from the penalty spot in the 64th minute.

Napoli are now into the quarter-final of the competition.
