The Premier League giants were beaten 4-1 by their Serie A foes. A Piotr Zielinski brace, one being a fifth-minute penalty, and Andre Zambo Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone strikes were enough to undo Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, who grabbed a consolation via Luis Diaz.
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen missed a penalty and could have made it 5-1.
In the other Group A game, Ajax thrashed Rangers 4-0. Edson Alvarez, Steven Berghuis, Mohammed Kudus and Steven Bergwijn were on the scoresheet for the Dutch champions.

Atletico Madrid saw off a spirited Porto 2-1 at the Civitas Metropolitano. All the goals came in the final minutes of the game. Mario Hermoso scored in the 91st minute to give Atletico the lead before Mateus Uribe scored a 96th-minute penalty to level things. Antoine Griezmann scored the winner in the 101st minute.

Club Brugge beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 in Belgium to claim all three points in their clash. Abakar Sylla scored the only goal of the contest in the 42nd minute. Patrik Schick thought he had levelled in the 73rd minute, but his attempt was ruled out.
Group C

Barcelona crushed visiting Victoria Plzen 5-1, with Robert Lewandowski bagging a hattrick. Franck Kessie and Ferran Torres were the other scorers for the Spanish giants. Jan Sykorabagged his Victoria Plzen’s only goal.
In the other match, Bayern Munich beat hosts Inter Milan 2-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza. A goal from Leroy Sane and an own goal from Danilo D’Ambrosio were enough to give the German side all three points.

Group D
Last season’s Europa League winners, Eintracht Frankfurt were beaten 3-0 by visiting Sporting Lisbon. Marcus Edwards, Trincao and Nuno Santos were the scorers.

In the other game, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Olympique Marseille 2-0 with Richarlison scoring a brace.
