Below are some of the controversies that the actress has been involved in.
Toyin Abraham and Adeniyi Jones
One of the controversies involving the actress that dominated social media was her messy divorce from her first husband, Adeniyi Johnson. Johnson accused the actress of dating convicted fraudster, Seun Egbegbe, while they were still married. He made this revelation in an interview with Channels TV on the Rubbin Minds show.
The latter took to social media in 2018 to call out the actress for refusing to sign the divorce papers. However, Toyin Abraham replied via the same social media that she was the one that filed for the divorce which reportedly cost N1 million, adding that she is the one who has been pushing the case ever since.
Toyin Abraham and Lizzy Anjorin
Toyin Abraham and Lizzy Anjorin seemed to have been fighting forever until the latter got the police involved to settle their matter in 2022. Lizzy Anjorin accused Toyin of using different social media accounts to troll her. The Yoruba language actress also called out the Alakada producer for calling her child an imbecile. Lizzy Anjorin further accused Toyin Abraham of lying about giving birth to her child abroad when she allegedly had her baby in a traditional maternal centre in Nigeria.
The imbecile accusation had Toyin Abraham in tears as she cleared the air during an Instagram live session with fellow actress, Iyabo Ojo. According to the Ijakumo star, she never made such a statement. The accusations were a lot and fans were excited when Toyin Abraham announced that she and Lizzy Anjorin had settled their beef.
Marriage controversy
Marriage is not a bed of roses and Toyin Abraham and Kolawole Ajeyemi, her current husband, have had their share of rumours. Back in 2022, it was rumoured that the actress and her husband were planning on separating and that her husband confided in a friend that he is tired of his marriage to the actress. There have also been rumours that the actress does not sleep at home and that Ajeyemi has side chics.
But Toyin Abraham and her husband came together and debunked the rumour, insisting in a message issued via her management that they were not having a marriage crisis.
Toyin Abraham’s net worth
Having broken box office records for her amazing movies, Toyin Abraham is an actress that is doing well for herself. The money she spends on producing her movies goes to show how financially buoyant she is.
As of the time of this post, there is no official statement as to how much Toyin Abraham’s net worth is, but she has houses, cars, and properties worth millions. Not forgetting her amazing movies and her income as an actress, producer, and brand influencer, it is certain that her net worth is in the millions.
Toyin Abraham’s family
Toyin Abraham comes from a family of six and she is the last child. During her speech delivered at the 2017 edition of ‘Success Story Africa’, the movie producer revealed that she was very poor while growing up and had to hawk plantain chips to help feed her family.
From a daughter to becoming a wife, Toyin Abraham tied the knot to her first husband, Adeniyi Johnson on July 8, 2013, but then she filed for divorce on grounds of infidelity in 2015.
In 2019, Toyin married Kolawole Ajeyemi and the couple has been going steady to date. Toyin Abraham welcomed her first child, a baby boy, which she named Ire in August 2019. Toyin Abraham has two children, her son Ire Ajeyemi and her stepdaughter Temitope Ajeyemi.
Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham
Two queens cannot reign in a kingdom, but fans forget that Nollywood is big enough to accommodate as many queens as possible. While Toyin Abraham is a big name in the entertainment industry, her colleague and now-turned-politician, Funke Akindele, is another screen goddess that the former is always compared to.
Funke Akindele has been around just as long as Toyin Abraham has and fans never fail to compare the two of them in terms of their works and achievements. Many have often said that Toyin Abraham “copies” most of the things Funke Akindele does.
For instance, many stated that Toyin Abraham’s movie The Ghost and The Tout Too was a poor imitation of Funke Akindele’s Omo Ghetto: The Saga, which was a huge success. Some even stated that Toyin Abraham’s famous movie, Fate of Alakada: The Party Planner, is another ‘copy’ of Funke Akindele’s popular series, Jenifa, because the two have similar storylines and character descriptions.
Many think that the two actresses are not on talking terms because they are rarely spotted at each other’s events, but Toyin has debunked the rumour several times, saying that they are not enemies. In an interview with The Punch back in 2021, Toyin Abraham revealed that she and Funke Akindele are on talking terms and people should ‘forget’ social media.
Removing the comparison of fans which has fueled the “beef” between the two actresses is necessary because when it comes to achievements, awards, and works, these two amazons have and are doing exceptionally well and they deserve their accolades individually.
Irrespective of the controversies Toyin Abraham has been connected with, she is one screen goddess that has shown that hard work and determination pay wherever you go. Since her advent into the movie Industry, she has continued to climb the success ladder.
