Veteran musician, Initemi Timaya Odon, popularly known as Timaya, has been arrested for an alleged hit and run in Lekki. The musician was arrested by operatives of the Maroko Police Division and is being investigated for allegedly causing grievous body injuries to a woman.
He was alleged to have hit a woman and sped off, leaving the injured woman to her fate. It was also alleged that the musician collided with her car and when she then tried confronting him, he also hit her with his car and sped off.

The sister of the lady allegedly hit by Timaya took to Instagram to seek justice for her sister, who is currently in the hospital seeking treatments.

A lot of people also took to social media to reprimand the musician for abandoning the woman after the accident. Some even accused him of acting like he did nothing wrong and coming on social media to post while the woman he hit was still lying on a hospital bed in severe pain.
The musician has since come out to share his side of the story. In an Instagram live post, he explained he did not do what he was accused of doing but that the woman fell.

He said in the video that the road he was driving through was blocked because of the fuel scarcity, and he was trying to navigate his way through and did not know that he had hit the woman’s car. He also said that he stopped his car and came down after the woman called his attention to it and asked for her number so he could reconcile over the phone because they were causing traffic on the road. Police spokesperson Adekunle Ajisebutu said the singer was in custody but not detained.
He said: “He is being investigated for a case of a serious motor accident. He is not detained but in our custody.”
The musician also put out a press release concerning the allegation where he explained further what happened and tendered an apology on the issue.
