Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the six-month jail term slammed on Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, over charges bothering on the abuse of the Naira.
Skabash earlier reported that Okuneye was sentenced to prison by Justice Abimbola Awogboro without the option of a fine.
Before handing down the sentence, the judge had asked the accused about his gender, and he quickly replied that he was a man.
When the judge asked, “Are you a man or a woman?” Bobrisky responded, “I am a man.”
The judge however ruled that the jail term commenced on March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest. Awogboro said the judgment would be a deterrent to others who are found abusing and mutilating the naira.

And in a post on X, Adeyanju questioned why the first-time offender was given a maximum sentence.
He stated that the judgement does not make any sense because a lot of Nigerians are guilty of the crime, including those in government.

“Why was maximum sentence given to a first time offender? The judgment does not make any sense.
“90% of Nigerians are guilty of Naira mutilation including those in government. Law must always have a human face to it no matter the person standing trial before the court,” Adeyanju tweeted.
