Taylor Lynn Rooks was born on May 22, 1992, in St. Louis, Missouri, United States of America. Rooks comes from a sporting family as her father, Thomas Rooks, was a former footballer, and her uncle, Lou Brock, is a former professional baseball outfielder. Another uncle, Marv Woodson, played for a few famous teams in the NFL. Her sister, Ryan Rooks, is a former swimmer and cheerleader.

Rooks attended Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia, and graduated in 2010. Following her family’s tradition, she got admitted into the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she majored in broadcast journalism. As a student, Rooks covered and broke national football/basketball recruiting stories while working with At 19 years old, Rooks appeared on CBS Sports Network reporting on the WBB Pre-NIT Championship. She also interned with the PGA Tour, Comcast SportsNet Chicago and Fox Sports/

Rooks helped expand women’s interest in broadcasting. She also had a brief stint in modelling but turned her interest to journalism.

Rooks began a career path as far back as when she was a student at the University of Illinois in August 2012. She made national news with her stories and perspective on the game, specifically in recruiting, while she was working for

Two months after graduating from college, Rooks became an on-air host, reporter, and correspondent for the Big Ten Network. She was on the popular night TV show,  BTN Live, alongside Dave Revsine, Mike Hall, and Rick Pizzo, and analysts such as Jim Jackson, Chuck Long and Glen Mason. One of her roles was to interact with fans and initiate discussion of social media topics on TV.

Rooks reports the Big Ten Games throughout the season and travels frequently for television shows. She also hosts the Women’s Sports Report, alongside Lisa Byington, covering all women’s sports in the Big Ten. In August 2016, she became the newest host, reporter and anchor for SportsNet, New York. She was also the sideline reporter for CBS Sports Network for the 2016-2017 college football season.

Rooks hosted a popular podcast, TimeOut With Taylor Rooks, where she interviewed athletes and celebrities. She now has her show on Bleacher Report called: Take It There. She interviews various sports stars, especially those who are prominent in the NBA and the NFL. The purpose is to sports attention away from numbers and results to a more personal direction where athletes can talk about themselves. The show got renewed for a second season in 2020.

Rooks’ most famous romantic relationship was with Grey’s Anatomy star, Jesse Williams. Williams was married to Aryn Drake-Lee but they filed for divorce in 2017, which was finalised in 2020. He reportedly moved on with Rooks but their relationship was kept private. They were only pictured on dinner dates and walks.

However, their relationship ended and Williams moved on with a new girlfriend, actress Taylour Paige.

Meanwhile, Rooks was rumoured to be dating former Twitter boss, Jack Dorsey. when the duo were spotted together at the Super Bowl in Los Angeles in 2022. Neither Rooks nor Dorsey confirmed or denied the report. Hence, it is not clear whether Rooks is in another relationship.
