Who is Sturgeon Stardew?
A Sturgeon Stardew is a type of valuable fish in the Stardew Valley video game. Described as a bottom-feeder whose population is dwindling, the Sturgeon can be caught at any time of the day and during summer and winter.
This fish can be used in a variety of ways. You can use it to complete the Lake Fish Bundle in the Community Center or try some recipes, which include Maki Rolls, Sashimi and Quality Fertilizer. Also, putting the Sturgeon in a pond on your farm to create a caviar is easily one of the best ways to use this fish as it can sell as much as 600 gold. If you are feeling fancy, you can place Caviar in the spool of Emily’s sewing machine to create a Fashion Hat.
However, if those options do not work for you, then give the Sturgeon to Willy as it is one of his most cherished gifts. You may earn up to 80 friendship points with him on a normal day.

The Sturgeon is an ancient bottom-feeder whose population is dwindling. However, females can live up to 150 years.
What happened to Sturgeon Stardew Valley?
The Sturgeon is a very valuable fish in the video game. Although it can be caught and sold directly, it is best placed in a fish pond to produce Sturgeon Roe, which can then be used to make the ever-valuable Caviar.
To make the fish pond, enlist the help of Robin, the local carpenter, with the following items:
- 5,000 gold
- 200 stone
- Five seaweed
- Five green algae
A standard fish pond in the video game is 5×5 tiles and takes about two days to build. Once it is built, the Sturgeon is placed inside where it will happily swim around and multiply. The population is usually 10 per pond. This is when your Sturgeon will begin asking you for a diamond to spawn new Sturgeons in four days. Once it can spawn up to three new Sturgeons, it will ask for either one jar of Jelly (of any kind), two jugs of Maple Syrup, or one jar of Pickles (any kind).
If the fish are up to five, they will ask for three Omni Geodes. Seven Sturgeon will ask for a Nautilus Shell.
Meanwhile, a Sturgeon can only produce Roe, which will turn into a Caviar through a Preserves Jar that will take 6,000 in-game minutes. However, the Caviar is an almost universally–liked item by every villager except for Jas, Sebastian and Vincent. It can grant you 45 friendship points on a normal day.
You can also donate the Caviar to unlock the Missing Bundle after completing the Community Center. Other uses for the Sturgeon include selling for a lot of gold, creating a fashion hat, trying some recipes or simply gifting them to Willy to earn extra points.
Where to find Sturgeon Stardew
You can find the Sturgeon at the Mountain Lake, just northeast of town. It is available all summer and winter between 6 am to 7 pm.
Also, the Sturgeon can be caught in any weather. However, it is more easily available during rainy days and casting further from the shore increases your chances of catching one.
Furthermore, there is a new item on the 1.5 update known as the Magic Belt. The Magic Belt allows you to catch fish from any season, time, or weather in the location you use it.
If you are not interested in fishing, just head to Krobus who stocks a random fish from a set list of 10 (or a Magnet) on Wednesday. One of them may be Sturgeon. Alternatively, visit the Traveling Cart on Friday and Sunday for a randomised chance to buy a Sturgeon outright.
