Renowned Nigerian comedian, Ali Baba has shed light on the lavish spending habits of a popular musician, revealing that the artist splurged over N1.5 billion on a lifestyle filled with extravagance.
This revelation was made during a recent episode of the Eden Oasis Realty podcast.
Ali Baba detailed the musician’s extravagant expenditures following major performances, highlighting that he was paid N400 million for a performance in Dubai, followed by another N500 million for an international gig.

Rather than investing this substantial income wisely, the musician reportedly indulged in luxury purchases, including a Maybach, another high-end car, expensive jewelry, and an extravagant shopping spree.
In less than two months, Ali Baba noted, the musician had squandered more than N1.5 billion. Expressing disappointment, the comedian suggested that the artist missed out on valuable investment opportunities, such as purchasing land, building a recording studio, or establishing an event center that could generate long-term revenue.
Ali Baba remarked, “I told a very top musician, if he hears this, he would know I am talking about him. After playing in Dubai for nearly N400 million and another international event for about N500 million, he splurged on luxury cars and jewelry. Within a mere two to six months, he burned through N1.5 billion.”
He continued, “He could have bought land, created a powerful studio, and built a venue that would not only serve as a music hub but also generate enough income to fund his desires. Instead, when it came time for him to get married, he found himself paying for a hall rental.”
In a broader commentary on the challenges musicians face, Ali Baba contrasted the financial support given to car dealers with the struggles artists encounter when seeking loans. He cited Asake’s recent attempt to secure a N1 billion loan for a concert in London, which was denied, despite the potential for significant revenue from the event.
“The car dealer can approach a bank to import 12 cars and receive financing, even if those cars sit unsold for months. In contrast, Asake can generate N2 billion in a single concert, yet struggles to obtain support when he needs it,” Ali Baba concluded.
