She is a multi-skilled individual whose life revolves more than just having a pretty face and being an ex-beauty queen.

So, who is Skylene Montgomery, who captivated the heart of a popular football coach?

Skylene Montgomery was born on December 4, 1984, in Parkersburg, situated in the US state of West Virginia. She was born into the family of Skylar and Darlene Montgomery. Her original birth name is Kasey Montgomery, but she chooses to be referred to as Skylene. Her father, Skylar Montgomery, is a highly successful businessman and he is a co-owner of The Overhead Door Company,  an industry that supplies garage doors. 

Montgomery completed her secondary school at Petersburg South High School. She excelled in all of her athletic endeavours, particularly in the sports of softball and volleyball. She proceeded to Marshall  University, where received a degree in Exercise Physiology in 2007.

She subsequently enrolled at West Virginia University to pursue a degree in communications and nursing. In September 2022, she obtained a master’s degree in nursing science from Loyola University in New Orleans.

Montgomery stands at about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 60 pounds. She reportedly has additional body measurements of 36, 27, and 38 inches. Her muscular frame was praised by the judges at prior beauty pageants, but she has in recent times added more pounds. 

But because she exercises frequently, she manages to have a trim and toned body. She exercises regularly by playing golf and doing hot yoga, as well as using resistance bands and slamming a 65-pound rope into the ground. She also spars with her trainer and participates in demanding boxing workouts.

Career

Beauty queen

Skylene Montgomery spent the majority of her early years as a tomgirl before making a substantial change in her lifestyle at the age of 14. As she neared the end of her teen years, she started to embrace her femininity more. 

She started participating in beauty pageants at a teenage age, beginning with the Miss Teen West Virginia competition. She finished in second position.

After lots of sacrifices, dedication and hard work as a beauty queen, her efforts paid off. In 2008, Montgomery was crowned Miss West Virginia USA. She subsequently represented her state in the 57th Miss USA Pageant.

The exposure and endorsement she got from working as a beauty queen helped her to start saving money, which she then used to pay for her studies. In addition, she actively supported social campaigns such as Katrina Relief, Friendship Kitchen, Breast Cancer Awareness, and Relay for Life.

Professional nurse 

Skylene Montgomery is also a certified nurse. After graduating from Marshall University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology in 2008, the ex-pageant queen started her journey in the health sector. She worked as an Assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. 

After she was done with her programme at West Virginia University, Montgomery worked as a nurse in Charlotte and New Orleans, among other places in the US. She was also a specialist at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans’ gastrointestinal intensive care unit.

Her philanthropic work in New Orleans included volunteering with Second Harvest Feed The Children, Ochsner’s Moonlight & Miracles Foundation, and Payton’s Play It Forward Foundation.

Relationship

In 2012, Sean Payton and Skylene Montgomery met for the first time. She was then working two jobs to pay off her educational debt. Their paths first met when Montgomery tried to use the help of a mutual friend to get tickets to an NFL game involving Payton’s team, the Saints. After receiving Payton’s direct phone number to call and request tickets, Montgomery and Payton decided to meet at the pre-game conference.

They started dating in 2013, just after Payton’s divorce. It happened despite that they were on different professional trajectories. Montgomery eventually found a job in New Orleans and moved over there to live with her boyfriend. Payton is 21 years older than she is.

Engagement

Payton proposed to Montgomery in 2019 on a Friday night at the Longway Tavern in New Orleans’ French Quarter, completely taking her by surprise. 

At a celebration for Saints owner, Gayle Benson, Payton publicly declared his love for Montgomery during the event’s toast and proposed to her. 

On 10th November 2019, during the Saints Falcon Game, the couple announced their engagement at the Mercedes Benz Superdome. 

Wedding

With the Sea of Cortez as their backdrop, the couple exchanged vows in 2021, at the luxurious One & Only Palmilla resort, located On the Baja Peninsula, which forms the southernmost point of Mexico.

In keeping with the wedding’s theme, a small chapel on the resort’s lower level was painted white for the event. Payton looked sharp in a white suit and Nike shoes on their wedding day. 

Montgomery, on the other hand, looked ravishing in a floor-length white lace gown and veil.

Who is Sean Payton?

Sean Payton, the spouse of Skylene Montgomery, is a former NFL coach and quarterback in American football.  

Payton, who is 59 years old, was born to Thomas and Jeanne Payton in San Mateo, California, on December 19, 1963. He was raised in the Illinois city of Naperville, where he graduated from Naperville Central High School.

In addition to being a former player, he served as the New Orleans Saints head coach in the National Football League from 2006 to 2021, leading them to a Super Bowl victory.

Montgomery is not Payton’s first partner when it comes to marriage. He had previously been married to Beth Shuey, who was his first spouse for 24 years. They have two kids together, a boy and a girl (Connor Payton and Meghan Payton).

Just like him, Meghan Payton, his daughter, now also works in the NFL. In an ironic turn of events, Meghan’s father once spoke with NFL Total Access, where she works as a sports reporter for Chat Sports.

Montgomery is not active on social media. She has no Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter profiles.

Montgomery has also made a respectable sum of money through her work as a pageant queen and a professional nurse 

She has, nevertheless, kept her annual salary and earnings away from the public. Skylene Montgomery’s net worth is, however, estimated to be between $900,000 to $2 million.
