Made Kuti, a Nigerian singer and nephew of musician Seun Kuti, has responded to criticisms regarding his perceived lack of support for his uncle.
Following Seun Kuti’s court appearance on Monday, several Nigerians took to social media to accuse the Kuti family of not being present at the arraignment.
To counter these allegations, Made Kuti shared a photo of himself and his father, Femi Kuti, at the court premises yesterday, demonstrating his support for Seun.
He expressed his disinterest in living for social media and the need to constantly prove himself through posts.
“I don’t like that we have to post things on social media to show/prove we’re doing everything we can as a family. But here you go,” Made said.
He advised the trolls to acknowledge that there is more to life than what is seen on their phones, urging them to embrace a broader perspective.
“Because of this many are cursing at us under my father’s last post, swearing at us for doing nothing. We must accept there’s much more to life than what we see on our phones,” he said.
A video that circulated widely on May 13 captured the moment Seun was filmed slapping a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
