Premier League: Arsenal shock Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Arsenal were 4-2 winners over London rivals Chelsea in a Premier League encounter on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners took advantage of a mistake by Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen in the 13th minute with Eddie Nketiah chasing down a short back pass by the Danish defender to give his side the lead.

Mikel Arteta’s men, however, enjoyed the lead for only four minutes as Timo Werner grabbed the equaliser after a Ruben Loftus-Cheek assist.

The match was looking like anybody’s victory to take as it was tainted with errors and misplaced passes from both sides. However, it was Arsenal who took the lead again through Emile Smith-Rowe in the 27th minute.

Chelsea again equalised in the 32nd minute after Cesar Azpilicueta scored.

The second half started with the Blues replacing the shaky Christensen with a more stable Tiago Silva. It was however not enough to prevent the Gunners from grabbing a third after a mix-up in the Chelsea defence allowed Nketiah to score his second of the night.

Chelsea had a number of chances to level but some bad decisions in the final third saw them chasing the game. Bukayo Saka would later put the game to bed from the penalty spot.

He was involved in a tangle with Azpilicueta in the 92nd minute and referee, Jonathan Moss was quick to point to the spot.

The decision led to an argument between both players, with Azpilicueta and Arsenal’s Gabriel receiving yellow cards after the ensuing arguments.

The win moves Arsenal to fifth on the log with 57 points while Chelsea remain third with 62 points.
