Penny Stardew: Video game character known for being nice and simple

Penny Stardew is a character in Stardew Valley. Stardew Valley is a 2016 video game developed by Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. In the game, players play the role of a character who inherits their deceased grandfather’s dilapidated farm in a place known as Stardew Valley. They grow crops, raise livestock, fish, cook, mine, forage, and socialise with the townspeople, including having the ability to marry and have children.

Stardew Valley allows eight players to play online together. Penny Stardew is one of the popular characters, and here is everything you need to know about the simple villager of Pelican Town.

Who is Penny Stardew?

Penny Stardew is a village girl who lives in a trailer with her mother, Pam, in Pelican Town. She is also one of the 12 characters available for marriage. While Pam explores Stardrop Saloon, Penny, who is shy and modest, prefers to quietly do her chores in their stuffy home.

Penny is a simple girl with little ambition. All she wants is to get married and start a family. In the meantime, she is a teacher to Vincent and Jas, a job she does not find easy, but enjoyable.

Penny Stardew origin

Penny was born in Fall 2, the third season players play through. Her mother, Pam, is described as an abusive alcoholic who is often found at Stardrop Saloon.

What happened to Penny Stardew?

Penny has a self-sacrificing nature, which can be traced to the abuse she experienced from her mother. Before Pam became an alcoholic, she was abused as a child. Desperate to be saved, she met a man who turned out to be a jerk. She got pregnant with Penny and was dumped by her husband.

As a result, Pam got a job as a bus driver to fend for herself and her child. However, she later lost the job. As a result, she became bitter and mistrustful, finding solace in alcohol.

Penny witnessed her mother giving up on life and decided to somehow compensate for her mother’s shortcomings. This is probably why she loves children and accepts the role of “a punching bag”. Penny is also overly nice but has trust issues. Despite desperately trying to find someone she could share her life with, she finds it difficult to trust anyone.

Therefore, Penny’s “too nice” character and trust issues make her one of the least favourite characters among Stardew Valley players.

Where to find Penny Stardew

You can find Penny in town reading or cleaning up at the trailer. She can also be found teaching Jas and Vincent at the museum and walking them both home afterwards on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

On Rainy days, Penny can be found inside her trailer or visiting the museum looking at the selection of books. She may randomly spend the day at Ginger Island after the Beach Resort is unlocked. However, she never visits the Resort on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Festival days or her checkup day at Harvey’s Clinic.
