Career
Paul Enenche was influenced to go into ministry, thanks to his upbringing. His mother was a born-again Christian after giving her life to Christ in 1958. According to him, his mother raised her children to love the way of the Lord by ensuring they participated in morning devotions.
Although Enenche was raised in the Methodist Church, he joined the Deeper Life Campus Fellowship while he was a medical student at UNIJOS. Enenche was an active member of the fellowship where he took Christian work very seriously.
In May 1996, Enenche found himself in a dilemma. He was living in Jos at the time, already a graduate and married with a lot of prospects. He was offered several juicy medical appointments abroad. He had several choices to make. First, to relocate to the prestigious University of London and the Hammersmith Hospital with his wife, who is also a medical doctor, where they had offers to work and simultaneously advance their careers.
Second, to take two other attractive medical appointments in two other countries. Third, to keep their jobs in the two different hospitals where he and his wife worked and were comfortable. However, there was another uncertain option, a restless urge in the spirit to start his ministry.
Hence, on May 28, 1996, Enenche embarked on a personal retreat to a mountainous area on the outskirts of Jos to commune with God regarding his choices. After three days of fasting, he came down from the mountain with a clear vision of which choice to make. This was where the journey to start the Dunamis Church began.
Ministry
According to Enenche, the Lord instructed him to set aside his medical certificate and “go to the city of Abuja to start a gospel outreach that will be characterised with a heavy presence of God to heal, save and deliver people; a church that will restore human destiny and dignity”.
Thus, he obeyed and started Dunamis International Gospel on November 10, 1996. The Church’s first church service was held at Abuja Centre for Arts and Culture. Two weeks later, the Church moved to Abuja Sheraton Hotel. After six months, the church moved to its permanent site and has since made groundbreaking records.
Enenche’s ministry, as he has admitted in the past, is heavily influenced by popular gospel ministers like Pastor W.F Kumuyi, Pastor David Oyedepo, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and Pastor Kenneth Copeland.
