Osinachi Nwachukwu: Her husband was control freak, alleges Frank Edwards

Frank Edwards, a gospel singer, has alleged that Peter Nwachukwu, husband of late musician, Osinachi Nwachukwu, was in total control of her life, laying credence to rumours that the deceased suffered domestic abuse in her marriage.

Edwards made the allegation on an Instagram live on Saturday, hours after his colleague’s death was announced. He alleged that her husband was in control of her career and had to be consulted before any decision on shows or her career, in general, is made.

He added that their advice for her to leave her marriage fell on deaf ears. He accused her husband of jealousy, saying he blocked some deals she could have benefitted from.

“Maybe somebody is jealous of their own husband or wife…or maybe you think they are going to be bigger than you. I just heard now that a lot of people spoke to her to leave. Because of the way the man spoke to me when I was put on a conference call to plead for him to just allow her to do her music. He was saying, ‘ehn what kind of help do they want to do’. I was there on my own and this woman built a whole studio for her, this man refused.

“I didn’t know it had reached the point of getting physical. But what I kept saying was the control was too much. The other time, someone wanted me to get her for an event. She wanted me to tell her husband that the show was free because he would collect the money if he knew she was paid,” he said.

The allegations of Peter being abusive were rife after Osinachi Nwachukwu’s death was announced. He was accused by the late singer’s friends and associates of physically assaulting her at will.

An accuser, identified as Barrister Chidinma, said he kicked Osinachi Nwachukwu in the chest, sending her into a five-day coma before she died on Friday.

One Chidinma Ezego, a friend of the deceased, alleged that Peter Nwachukwu tied his wife and ordered their children to whip her.

Skabash could not get through to the accused for comments as calls to his telephone were not answered.
