A Nigerian man who taps palm wine has built a mansion using a profession typically thought to be for the impoverished.
In addition to his mansion, the man, identified as Utobo, bought a Mercedes Benz Sports Utility Vehicle using the proceeds from his business.
Popular comedian Mama Uka shared a video of the man on Facebook.
The man, who said he started his business at 12, hails from Amufu, Enugu Ezike in Enugu State.
He revealed that he trained his wife at university with his palm wine-tapping business.
He also said he currently taps 56 trees and climbs trees for 19 hours every day.
The story triggered comments from Facebook users.
Daniel Ugo Owunna: “Hard work and consistency in one’s work is the key to success and prosperity. I pity those doubting and making negative insinuation on the man’s source of wealth.”
Adaobi Obimalu: “Absolutely amazing, if you are just where God wants you to be, everything will be perfect for you.”
