The test is based on psychologist Judith Siegel’s Multidimensional Anger Inventory (MAI), which was developed in 1986. At the time, researchers had theorised that anger and hostility might be linked to high blood pressure and coronary heart disease, and used MAI to evaluate certain health risks.

People who score high on this dimension find it difficult to trust anyone due to their perception of the world. They often assume that other people’s intentions towards them are bad and everyone is out to get them one way or the other. However, their anger is based on cognition instead of emotion.

External anger

External anger can be defined as a person’s tendency to take their anger out on their surroundings.  This type of anger dimension is quite popular as it is often not hidden.   • Click on “TESTS” at the top of the page.
  • Then click the “Anger Test” icon.
  • Answer the 38 questions about your experiences with feeling and expressing anger by clicking on the agree or disagree scale.
  • Once you are done, the website will show you how you compare to the general population in the six parts explained above.

  • Think before you speak or write. Talking or writing while you are angry can escalate the problem at hand instead of calming it down.
