Messi beats Ronaldo, ties with most decorated player in history after PSG’s Ligue 1 win

Lionel Messi equalled with the most decorated player in history on Saturday evening when PSG drew with Strasbourg for the Ligue 1 title. 

Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi, has met the record set by Barcelona legend Dani Alves as the most decorated player in football history. Messi and Alves have each accumulated an impressive total of 43 club trophies.

Messi also broke Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most goals scored in Europe’s top five divisions (495), he now has 496 points.

The Argentine achieved this milestone after leading PSG to victory in the French Ligue 1 championship on Saturday night. This marks PSG’s 11th Ligue 1 title, secured with a 1-1 draw against Strasbourg.

Messi scored a goal for PSG in the 59th minute. Throughout his career, he has amassed a collection of titles, including one FIFA World Cup and Copa America, ten La Liga championships, two Ligue 1 titles, three UEFA Champions League trophies, three FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, one French Super Cup, one Finalissima, seven Copa del Rey titles, and eight Supercopa de Espana victories.
