Brazilian winger Antony will not return to Manchester United training after the international break due to assault charges.
He has been granted a full-pay leave of absence rather than being suspended. The club will continue to monitor the issue as it unfolds.

A club statement read: “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony. Players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday. However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.
“As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
The former Ajax man, in a statement, said Manchester United’s decision was mutual as he needed time to address the allegations against him.
Antony has continued to deny the allegations, saying on Brazilian television recently, “Never. I have never done so and would never do so.”
“[Violence against women] is completely wrong, 100 per cent wrong.
“I have two sisters and a mother.” I would never want this on them.”
According to media accounts, Rayssa De Freitas reported the alleged crime to the Civil Police of Sao Paulo.
Ingrid Lana, another woman, alleged in a televised interview that he forced her to have sex while on a business trip to England last year.
Lana claimed Antony brought her to his place and pushed her up against a wall, causing her to hit her head.
“He tried to have sex with me, and I didn’t want to,” Lana stated during the interview.
“He pushed me up against the wall, and I landed on my head.
“My goal was strictly professional. When I arrived at his invitation, I realised he had ulterior motives.”
When questioned about Lana’s accusation, Antony said in the interview on Friday: “Negative. I’m 100 per cent certain that I never touched any woman. 100 per cent. I am certain.
“I will produce the proof and people will understand. They will see the truth.”
