Julian Alvarez’s brilliant first-half strike gave City their second win in as many games.

Phil Foden
Foden was immense for City in De Bruyne’s absence

Phil Foden was saddled with creative responsibilities in the absence of Kevin de Bruyne, who faces up to six months out after hamstring surgery this week. Newcastle matched City in midfield but lacked quality in the final third despite their five-goal outing against Aston Villa last week.
