Brazilian football icon, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pele has died at the age of 82.
Pele passed on Thursday following his battle with colon cancer since September 2021.
His death was announced via his official Twitter handle and confirmed by his daughter, Kely Nascimento, via Instagram.

Regarded as the greatest of all time, Pele enjoyed a sparkling career spanning 20 years, from 1957 to 1977.

He holds the record for the most FIFA World Cup by a single player, winning three in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
Pele is credited to have scored a total of 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches for the Brazilian national team, Santos and the New York Cosmos.
