In a national broadcast, the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu Sunday morning addressed Nigerians over ongoing protests that have caused mayhem and crippled economic activities in parts of the country.

He expressed deep concern over the violent turn of events in some cities, acknowledging the pain and loss experienced by the families of those who tragically lost their lives.

The President emphasized the strain on the nation’s resources as he listed efforts made by his government to better the economy and rebuild damaged infrastructure.

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring public order and the protection of lives and property, urging all Nigerians to suspend further protests and embrace dialogue for the nation’s unity and progress.

Tinubu highlighted the government’s achievements, including doubling government revenues by blocking leakages and introducing automation, reducing debt service, and launching major infrastructure projects.

Key initiatives mentioned by the President include the Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, MSME Hubs, and the Renewed Hope City and Estate projects, all aimed at improving the quality of life for Nigerians.

In a bid to alleviate the rising cost of living, the President announced the suspension of duties on critical food items and medical supplies for the next six months.

He also revealed that billions of Naira worth of tractors and planting equipment purchased from the United States, Brazil, and Belarus are en route to Nigeria.

The President highlighted the government’s commitment to the youth through programs such as the student loan scheme and the Digital and Creative Enterprises initiative, which aim to create millions of jobs.

He called on Nigerians to choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation, expressing optimism for a brighter future for the country.

Concluding his address, Tinubu rallied the nation with the words, “Forward Ever, Backward Never!” and extended his gratitude to all Nigerians, praying for blessings upon the nation.
