Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, has broken his silence after he was suspended for eight months and fined for breaching betting rules.
Skabash! earlier reported that the footballer was banned from all football and football-related activity for eight months and fined £50,000 (N28,856,866) by the English football’s governing body, Football Association (FA) for betting offences.
In a recent update, Ivan Toney released a statement via his Instagram story admitting that he is “naturally disappointed” after being handed an eight-month suspension by the FA.
He thanked his family, friends, and Brentford for their support and promised to “focus on returning to play the game I love next season”.
His statement read, “Today I have received notification of my 8-month ban from football following a hearing before an FA Regulatory Commission that took place yesterday. I am naturally disappointed that I will be unable to play for the next 8 months.
“The written reasons for the Commission’s decision have not yet been published, so I make no further comment at this point other than to thank my family and friends, Brentford FC and our fans for their continued support, through what has been a very difficult time. I now focus on returning to play the game I love next season.”
