Islamic singer and cleric, Ibraheem Abdulhameed, popularly called Labaeka, has resigned from his position as Special Assistant, Artiste to the Kwara state governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

In his letter of resignation dated September 12, 2024, Labaeka lamented being paid salaries for doing nothing.

The singer, who served for a period of one year and seven months, expressed regrets for not achieving anything since his appointment in January 2023.

He told Governor AbdulRazaq that since his appointment is based on public trust, he can no longer break that trust by collecting salary for doing nothing.

Labaeka said it is against his beliefs as an Islamic cleric, and he hasn’t been at peace with himself.
