In a post on Snapchat, she addressed the misconception that she hates men or is a man-basher, clarifying that “I love marriage, I loved being married, I’m a huge advocate for marriage cos 2 is better than 1.”
However, she expressed concern about the current state of relationships, stating that “We use people and value things. It should be the other way round. We used to value people and things were meant to be used.”
Toke Makinwa emphasised that the focus has shifted from investing in individuals to prioritising societal expectations and material success.
She also highlighted the importance of community and collective effort in building strong relationships, contrasting it with the current trend of individualism and disposable interactions.
The media star noted that “It took a community to raise kids, not anymore, our walls are so high.”
She concluded by emphasizing the need for a shift in values and priorities to foster meaningful connections and lasting relationships.

@chinnel.xx: “We can all relate to what she said. The dating scene right now is something else. It’s quite difficult to meet an intentional person. People are now prioritizing short term pleasure, casual hookups over long term commitment due to the false perception that they have multiple options.”
@paneo_kidscloset: “Every person and there own problems may God see us all through”
@director_martins_: “A problem with this generation is they want to marry someone who is fully made. They are comparing the singles now with people who have been married for 10, 15 years. We did not start like this. We grew and built it. If you are looking for readymade, you will most likely miss it. There’s no perfect person!! You and your just have to make it work.”
@mahamimusic: “Na so all this feminist wey still young today go come next 10years giving us motivational coats on companionship there eyes go soon clear”
