In an interview with MiEL, Crayon said he made ‘Ngozi’ with producer Sarz. The Mavins A&R told him that Ayra was going to be good on the song and he decided to send her two songs and she picked ‘Ngozi’.
He mentioned that he was scared because his album was scheduled to be released four weeks after Ayra Starr dropped her verse, and so he did not know how it would be received.
Crayon thanked Rema for bringing him on stage in the O2 Arena a day after the song dropped. He performed the song and by the next day it was viral all over the internet.
