After shattering goalscoring records in England, the former Tottenham Hotspur captain was urged to join the German giants to add trophies to his cabinet. However, his first match in the red and white of the Bavarian side ended in a 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig.

Dani Olmo stole the show on the night with a hat-trick to bag the trophy for his side, their first in history. The Spaniard wasted no time in finding the net, putting his side ahead in the third minute.

He added the second in the 44th minute after Timo Werner, a former Chelsea forward, supplied him with an assist.

Bayern saw most of the ball but could not get a goal as they headed down the tunnel at halftime, two goals down.

A 68th-minute penalty settled the encounter, with Olmo slotting past Sven Ulreich in the Bayern goal.
