The actress attended D’banj’s 20th music anniversary event and recounted how she met him for the first time and he gave her the advice that changed her life.
She said after the big break with ‘Jenifa’ in 2009, Nigerian politician, Folorunsho ‘Folly’ Coker invited her to his club where she met D’banj for the first time.
D’banj told her to not let go of the brand as it could feed her for the rest of her life and she took the advice.
Funke Akindele has since gone ahead to make a successful series around ‘Jenifa’ along with other side projects tied to it.
