The Despicable Me cast is made up of A-list stars who play the animated characters in the movie. Despicable Me is an animated that revolves around a supervillain named Gru, who adopts three girls in a bid to steal the Moon. Eventually, he finds more fulfilment in fatherhood than in committing evil.
The movie became the first feature-length production mounted by Illumination Entertainment, which led to a franchise. Part of the success story of the franchise is the star-studded cast members.

Gru (voiced by Steve Carrell)
Gru is the protagonist of the animated movie and he speaks with an Eastern European accent. He is the son of Marlena, the twin brother of Dru and the adoptive father of Margo, Edith and Agnes.
In the movie’s beginning, he is constantly seeking his mother’s approval. However, adopting his daughters later taught him that his happiness is important.

The Minions (voiced by Pierre Coffin)
The Minions are Gru’s small, yellow, comical henchmen who have one or two eyes. Their language was reportedly created by Coffin, who mixed gibberish with words from many languages, including French, English, Spanish, Italian and Indonesian. In the Minions animated movie, it was revealed that the minions have been in existence since the beginning of life and only desire to serve the most terrible of villains.
Also, note that James Arnold Taylor and Jemaine Clement voiced the characters in the spin-off movies.
Margo (voiced by Miranda Cosgrove)
Margo is the eldest of the three sisters that Gru adopted. She also loves to protect her sister. At first, she is suspicious of Gru but later comes to love and trust him by the end of the movie. Margo is also interested in boys, making Gru protect her by freezing any boy who breaks her heart.
Edith (voiced by Dana Gaier)
Edith is the tomboyish middle sister who practices martial arts in the sequel.
Agnes (voiced by Elsie Fisher in the first two films and Nev Scharrel in the third film)
Agnes is the youngest of the three girls. She is innocent, happy and the first to accept Gru. Agnes loves unicorns and adopts a one-horned goat, whom she names Lucky, after mistaking him for a unicorn in the third film.
Lucy Wilde (voiced by Kristen Wiig)
Lucy is a cunning secret agent who teamed up with Gru to hunt down an extremely dangerous supervillain. She later marries Gru after 147 dates and becomes the mother of his adopted girls.
Dr. Nefario (voiced by Russell Brand)
He is Gru’s hearing-impaired inventor and partner-in-crime who speaks with a British accent. Dr Nefario also seems to have a crush on Gru’s mother.
Dru (voiced by Steve Carell)
Carell also played Dru, Gru’s twin long-lost twin brother. Dru is a fun fun-loving guy who is also into the supervillain business. He looks like Gru except he has blond hair and wears white.

Marlena (voiced by Julie Andrews)
Marlena is Gru’s and Dru’s mother. She often plays down the former’s ambitions, which became part of the reasons he joined the supervillain business. Marlena later admits to him that he is a better parent than she was. She also reveals that he has a twin brother whom their father took away after her divorce.
Fritz (voiced by Steve Coogan)

Fritz is Dru’s courteous, well-mannered butler who speaks with a British accent. He takes Gru and his family to meet his twin brother at his mansion in Freedonia.
Silas Ramsbottom (voiced by Steve Coogan)

Silas is the Director of the Anti-Villain League in the second film. Feu and his minions often make fun of his name. He is later replaced by Valerie Da Vinci in the third film.
Valerie Da Vinci (voiced by Jenny Slate)
Valerie is a former member of the Anti-Villain League. She replaces Silas and fires Gru and Lucy for failing to capture Balthazar Bratt.
Victor “Vector” Perkins (voiced by Jason Segel)
Victor is the antagonist in the first film. He is the son of Mr. Perkins, the President of the Bank of Evil. Victor stole the Great Pyramid of Giza. He competes against Gru to get a shrink ray and eventually the Moon.
Mr. Perkins (voiced by Will Arnett)

Mr. Perkins is Victor’s father and President of the Bank of Evil. Strong and large, he gives out loans to villains for their schemes.
Miss Hattie (voiced by Kristen Wiig)
Miss Hattie is the charismatic but cruel owner of the orphanage, from which Gru adopts his daughters. She sends the girls to the street to sell cookies and sleep in card boxes whenever they do not meet their quota.
Eduardo “El Macho” Pérez (voiced by Benjamin Bratt):
El Macho is the antagonist in the sequel. He was believed to have died after strapping 250 pounds of dynamite on himself and riding a shark into an active volcano. However, he faked his death and became the owner of a Mexican restaurant. El Macho plans to abduct most of Gru’s Minions and turn them into indestructible, evil Minions with a chemical compound he stole called PX-41. Then he will release them to take over cities all over the world.
Balthazar Bratt (voiced by Trey Parker)
Balthazar Bratt is the antagonist of the third installation of the movie series. He is a former child star who becomes a supervillain after he is removed from his television series for reaching the puberty stage.
Obsessed with 1980s pop culture he uses a giant robot armed with a laser and inflatable bubble gum to exact revenge on Hollywood.

- Clive (voiced by Andy Nyman): A robot and Balthazar Bratt’s sidekick

- Herb Overkill (voiced by Jon Hamm): Scarlet’s husband and an inventor
