Davido, Wizkid, others attain Twitter GOAT status

Davido, Wizkid, others attain Twitter GOAT status 1

Twitter honoured some Nigerian celebrities earlier this week by introducing the GOAT emoji to their Twitter hashtags. GOAT is an acronym for Greatest of all Time commonly used to describe people who do extraordinarily well in sports or fan-favourite celebrities.

The GOAT status isn’t just used to praise athletes but also musicians, actors, and other public figures.

Some of the celebrities include Wizkid, Davido, Burnaboy, BBN star Erica Nlewedim, and many others. The GOAT emoji is triggered only when their hashtags are used. So whenever anyone tweets using their hashtag, a GOAT emoji will appear beside it.

Dami’ Adenuga was one of the fans to comment on Wizkid’s goat status. His comment sparked a lot of responses from other fans.

The new status sparked controversy among some celebrity fans, especially Wizkid and Davido admirers, as they argued the authenticity of the GOAT emoji on fellow celebrities.

Wizkid’s fans accused Davido of paying Twitter to get the emoji.  This is because Wizkid was the first Nigerian celebrity to be honoured with the emoji.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were also among the celebrities conferred with the GOAT emoji title.

Since the emergence of the GOAT emoji, it has brought about several arguments and controversies on who the real GOAT is and the celebrities deserving or undeserving of the status worldwide.
