Who is Claire Redfield?
Claire Redfield is a fictional character and protagonist in Resident Evil, a survival horror video game series created by the Japanese company, Capcom. She is the younger sister of BSAA operative and former S.T.A.R.S member, Chris Redfield.
Claire is also a member of TerraSave, a multi-national non-governmental human rights agency. After surviving the Raccoon City zombie attack, Claire Redfield became involved in several Biohazard outbreaks around the world, where she and her brother devoted their careers to combating the threat of Bio Organic Weapons.
Claire is a popular character in Resident Evil games, novelisations and films. She has also appeared in other franchises, including Monster Hunter and Teppen. The character has received critical acclaim mostly because she is not overly sexualised. Also, Claire is an example of how a female can be as competent as her male counterpart.

Claire Redfield origin
Claire grew up with her brother after their parents died. The siblings were very close. Even when Chris joined the U.S. Air Force, they maintained communication. Chris also introduced his new friend, Barry Burton, and he became a close family friend. Both Chris and Barry taught Claire many survival techniques for her protection.
Growing up, Claire attended high school and college. A tomboy, she had two large motorbikes which she loved. She also specialised in lock picking, becoming an expert.
What happened to Claire Redfield?
Chris left America for Europe to investigate Umbrella’s main headquarters. However, he cut all contact with Claire to protect her from potential dangers.
But Claire was worried about her brother, who did not tell her where he was going. So, she left college and travelled to Raccoon City to search for her brother. By the time she arrived, the city was destroyed by the t.Virus. Claire stopped by Emmy’s diner for a break, but she was attacked by hordes of zombies. She was eventually saved by Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie cop who had only just arrived in town for his first day on the job.
The pair made their way to the police station where Claire met surviving cop Marvin Branagh, who told her the R.P.D. had lost contact with Chris over ten days ago and that every last S.T.A.R.S. survivor had disappeared. Claire went to the S.T.A.R.S. office and found Chris’ diary, which confirmed that he was no longer in Raccoon City.
While she and Leon were making plans to escape the city, they came across a little girl named Sherry Birkin, daughter of legendary Umbrella researcher, William. As the trio tried to escape the city through the sewers, they became separated and Sherry was infected with the G Virus by her mutated father. Claire later met Sherry’s mother, Annette, who told her the truth behind the outbreak.
Having been reunited, Claire, Leon, Sherry and Annette travelled to Umbrella’s lab to find a cure for Sherry before it was too late. In the process, Annette was mortally wounded by G-Birkin but managed to relay instructions on how to create the cure before she died. Then, the surviving trio escaped Raccoon City and administered the cure to Sherry.
After that, Claire said goodbye and left to look for her brother. Her search led her to Umbrella’s Paris lab facility where she was captured and imprisoned at Rockfort Island. But she escaped after an attack on the facility by a special forces group codenamed ‘H.C.F.’ She joined a fellow escaped prisoner, named Steve Burnside, and together they managed to get to a computer and discover Umbrella had found out Chris’s whereabouts and had him under surveillance. Claire e-mailed Leon the location of Chris to send him a warning, also sending the coordinates for Rockfort Island.
As she and Steve fought their way out of the island, they met Albert Wesker who revealed himself as the owner of the island. However, he let them leave hoping Claire would lead him to Chris. Both Claire and Steve eventually tried to escape the island via a plane but the aircraft was automatically locked and rerouted to Umbrella’s transport terminal in the Antarctic. There, they faced off against Alfred Ashford, who was eventually dealt a mortal blow by Steve.
As the pair tried to escape again, they were accosted by Alfred’s long-dead sister, Alexia. However, Alexia was Alfred parading as his sister who was dead a long time ago. “Alexia” infected Steve with the t.Veronica virus.
Claire woke up to see Chris who had rescued her. Together, the siblings went to find Steve who mutated before their eyes. However, he can retain enough of his humanity to prevent himself from killing Claire. As a result, he was killed by the Alexia-Pod tentacles.
While Chris faced Alexia, Claire tried to escape to his waiting jet but was captured by Wesker. Chris found them, forcing Wesker to let her go. As Claire ran to the jet, Chris and Wesker were engaged in a fight. Chris eventually made it back to the jet. Within a few seconds for the facility to self-destruct, the siblings escaped.
After returning to America, Claire joined N.G.O. TerraSave; a group that aided victims of bio-terrorism and campaigned against inhumane medical experimentation. She travelled regularly around the world helping people and raising awareness of the plight of bioterrorism, a role that she enjoyed.
Who played Claire Redfield?
Claire Redfield was first voiced by Canadian actress Alyson Court, whose features were later used for the character. Then, she was voiced by an unknown actress in Resident Evil 2. Redfield is currently voiced by Stephanie Panisello.
In the live-action Resident Evil films, Claire has been portrayed by Ali Larter and Kaya Scodelario.
