Burna Boy's mother addresses controversy surrounding Wike’s gift to son 1

The mother of Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, Bose Ogulu, has spoken out to clarify the controversy surrounding her son’s relationship with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

In an interview on Channels TV, Ogulu explained that Burna Boy was honoured by Wike after winning the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album, and not paid to perform.

She emphasised that the recognition was due to her son’s achievement of the highest award in his field.

The clarification comes after Burna Boy faced criticism for not lending his voice to the ongoing ‘End Bad Governance’ protests, with some accusing him of being an ally of the government.

The controversy began after Burna Boy’s previous interaction with Wike, where he was promised landed properties, which he claimed were never fulfilled.
