A cry for help: Estate developer on the run after duping tenants of N11m

A family in Lagos is currently being held hostage by the police after an estate developer they contacted duped unsuspecting tenants.

The family, who pleaded to remain anonymous, narrated how they had contacted the estate developer to help complete their family house and lease it for 5 years, after which the family would start collecting the rent themselves.

However, they were shocked when they discovered that the developer had been fleecing unsuspecting tenants of their hard-earned money.

In one of his shady deals, he got over N250,000 from a prospective tenant and a further N100,000 as agreement fee before making away with all the money.

As of press time, the family informed skabash.com that the developer had duped several tenants up to the tune of N11.6 million.

The property is located at No 4, Ekundayo Sanusi street, Oko-Oba Agege, Lagos state. The police is holding the family hostage, insisting they pay up the debt they didn’t owe.

The family is also pleading with anyone with useful information that can lead to the immediate arrest of the developer named Odunbaku Ibrahim Atanda.

Meanwhile, popular Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth revealed that he paid N32 million for a house in Lagos but was yet to be handed the property.

Basketmouth said the incident happened about 14 years ago and that he paid a real estate firm based in Nigeria’s centre of excellence.

The comedian disclosed that the real estate firm was involved in a legal battle with the funding bank for the project shortly after he made payment. However, after the company resolved the court case, they refused to refund or release the property to him.
