70-year-old ex-Super Eagles coach bags first class degree from University of Jos

Former Super Eagles assistant coach, Ben Duamlong, has bagged a first-class degree from the University of Jos (UNIJOS).

The 70-year-old, who studied painting, was among the 20,532 students that graduated from the university in 2023 and was one of 112 who bagged a first-class degree.

Speaking with Daily Trust, Duamlong said he enrolled on the degree programme out of his passion for education after he retired as a footballer.

“What prompted me to go back to the university at this age is because of my passion for art. All my life, I have always drawn but never painted. I like painting. I can draw but I can’t paint. So, after retiring in 2014, as a footballer, I stayed home doing nothing. That is why I decided to go back to school,” he said.

Ben Duamlong was the former coach of Nigeria’s under-20 team and the Super Eagles assistant coach for the World Cup in Korea/Japan in 2022.
