50 rescued unhurt after aircraft fire in Port Harcourt

All 50 passengers onboard a Dana Airline plane were rescued on Monday after its tyres sparked off while taxiing to repark in Port Harcourt.

The aircraft was about to depart Port Harcourt for Lagos when the pilot in command noticed an anomaly and quickly queried the Air Traffic Control.

The incident was confirmed in a statement by Dana Air Spokesman, Kingsley Ezenwa, on Tuesday.

He said all 50 passengers were rescued unhurt and the aircraft immediately grounded pending the conclusion of investigations.

The statement further said, “We sincerely apologize to all the passengers on the flight for the inconveniences caused due to the eventual cancellation of the flight. At Dana Air, the safety of our passengers and crew will remain a top priority in all aspects of our operations and we will continue to operate in accordance with the civil aviation regulations and global best practices.”
